Leading Middle East rally hero Mohammed Bin Sulayem (above right) has thrown his support behind the Al Ain football club’s entry into Superleague Formula.
A 14-time winner of the FIA Middle-East Rally Championship, Bin Sulayem attended Monday’s fan unveiling at Sheikh Khalifa International Stadium – taking a close look at the 750 horsepower, V12 powered single seater.
“This is a very important development for this region because while rallying has always been big here, and now we have a number of road racing circuits, this will be a representative of the region taking part at the highest level on a world stage,” Bin Sulayem said. “This will certainly inspire young drivers in this part of the world – they will want to one day represent the Al Ain club.
“While my career has concentrated on rallying, I would love to get the chance to try the car (below) – that would be fantastic experience.”
Al Ain fans celebrated the club’s entry into Superleague Formula with a victory on the pitch against Al Nasr 2-1.
